December 31, 2020-
The DZ chapter of TKE alumni association participated in philanthropic activities this holiday season to help the needy and our veterans in the St. Louis and Cape Girardeau areas. The executive board wanted to share with you the acts of giving the alumni association performed.

1)The Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau had an “adopt a veteran” program for veterans in need. The alumni association “adopted” two of their veterans and purchased the gifts that each one had on their lists. I delivered those gifts to the veterans home last week.

2) We organized a food drive that resulted in over 225 cans (about 400 pounds) of food, that benefited local food pantries. Dan Helman volunteered his business, Eagle Pest Control, as a drop off location and he delivered the canned goods to OASIS Food Pantry in St Charles. The on-campus TKE house was another drop-off location and I delivered those canned goods to the Womens Safe House Outreach Center in Cape Girardeau.

3) As part of the Wreaths Across America campaign, The alumni association bought 10 Christmas wreaths that were laid on the tombs of deceased veterans at Jefferson Barracks National Memorial Cemetery.

4) The alumni association adopted a needy family through the United Way's 100-Neediest Families program. We adopted a single mother and her 5 year old daughter. The alumni assisted the family by paying their past-due utility bills, as well as fulfilling their needs of food expenses, household items, clothes, and toys. Larry Snopek and Dan Green shopped for and delivered the gifts to the family’s social worker, who will give them to the family.

5)To close out our season of giving for 2020, the DZ alumni association donated $500 to the Dr Joseph Worth Memorial Scholarship at St Louis Community College, where Frater Worth was a counselor, educator, and leader for 18 years. His work and memory lives on in his scholarship and we are honored to contribute to this wonderful cause.

Special thanks goes to the following:
-Those who donated canned goods for the food drive.
-Frater Dan Green (treasurer) and Larry Snopek (secretary) for purchasing and delivering the “adopt a family” gifts.
-Frater Dan Helman for letting us use his business as a food drive drop off location and for delivering the canned goods to the OASIS food pantry.
-Most of all, thanks to the Delta Zeta alumni. Your yearly dues payment allowed us to be generous in giving approximately $2,850 in gifts and other items to our veterans and the needy. Your continued support will allow us to continue supporting these programs. Looking forward to do this (and possibly more) next year.

November 1, 2020-
Dear Fraters, TKE little sisters, and friends/family of TKE,

As we enter the holiday season, the DZ chapter alumni association wants to update you on our plans for this time of year.  Due to the continuing and increasing problem with the COVID-19 pandemic, we unfortunately will not be able to have our annual Christmas party to celebrate.  When that became a reality, we asked ourselves “what can we do this holiday season?”.  The answer is simple and one we should have started in past years – giving to and helping others in need.

The DZ chapter alumni association is committed to helping those in need this time of year, which may be even more needed during the pandemic situation.  We are currently in the process of deciding on which specific ways and to which people/agencies we can assist and will unveil those plans in the very near future.

We also realize that there is a chance that one of you who is reading this post may in fact be in need of such assistance.  If you or someone you know in this group may be in need of some kind of help or assistance during this holiday season, which we are defining as between now and New Year’s, please personal message me or email me at beelledge@gmail.com with the necessary details.  The information given will not be shared with others, so as to maintain privacy.

Thanks in advance to any way you are able to help others and/or give during this holiday season. Feel free to personal message or email me with any questions or suggestions you may have regarding how we can help others during the holiday season.

Thanks,
Brian Elledge
DZ Chapter Alumni Association President

Dear Fraters, TKE Little Sisters, and Friends/Family of TKE,
It’s been over a month since the COVID-19 crisis really kicked into high gear and forced so many closures and changes that we have all had to endure since then. My biggest concern with all of this is your health and well-being and hoping you are doing ok. For those who have been inflicted by the virus or have family and friends inflicted, my thoughts are with you during this difficult time and am hoping for a speedy recovery with optimal outcome.
With all the closures and inability to do many things together, I hope we can still find a way to help each other out during this very challenging time. If there is anything you need assistance with, feel free to notify me via personal message or email at beelledge@gmail.com. I will then try to see what either myself or someone else can do to help you out. Also, if anyone is available to volunteer any service or assistance to anyone in need, please let me know as well. The more volunteers, the better.
I realize there are some of us who are struggling right now and that may continue to be the case for a while longer. I like to think that the DZ TKE alumni association can be a resource for us to seek or give assistance to each other, not only during this crisis, but afterwards as well. Take care and stay safe everyone.
Brian
