Thanks to all who were able to pay alumni dues for 2021. It was a big part of how we were able to continue the work of the alumni association by making donations to various philanthropies and helping those in need, as well as support for the DZ chapter. We also reached a milestone of 100 fraters that paid 2021 dues and we hope to meet or exceed that goal in 2022.
You can make your dues payment by the following ways:
Send a check for $50 to:
Delta Zeta Alumni Association
PO Box 356
Cottleville, MO 63338
Or make a mobile payment to either:
Or Venmo: @dztkealumni or click the link below
We are looking forward to seeing what we can do to make 2022 a successful, rewarding, and fun year. Stay tuned!
The alumni association participated in holiday giving in 2021. We adopted a family from the 100 neediest families in St. Louis to fulfill their lists of needs to help them through the holidays. We adopted two veterans from the Cape Girardeau Veterans Home to fulfill their Christmas list. Finally, we sponsored 10 wreaths that were put on the graves for veterans at Jefferson Barracks Cemetery.
The TKE Christmas party returned in 2021 and was loads of fun. Appetizers were provided by Big Chief Roadhouse Restaurant.
SEMO Homecoming 2021 marked a return to their event after a two year absence (2019-rained out and 2020-Covid). There was a great turnout of alumni and chapter members, and we got to see the legendary TKE bell in action as well during the parade.
SEMO Homecoming 2021 began Friday afternoon with the scholarship reception. The TKE DZ Alumni Memorial Scholarship recipients this year are Fraters Kyle Murray, Aaron Christianson, Alex Morelock, and Jake DeVaughn (not pictured). Alumni in attendance included myself, Don LaFerla, Bill Diepenbrock, and Dick Gettinger. A photo was also taken with Dr. Carlos Vargas, President of SEMO.
SEMO Homecoming 2021 continued Friday evening with the alumni awards dinner and TKE was represented as well.
Frater Don LaFerla and his wife Gloria were awarded Friends of the University for 2020 for their long history of contributions and accomplishments for SEMO.
Frater Tom Meyer was awarded the Alumni Merit Award for 2021 for his contributions and dedication to the university.
SEMO Homecoming concluded with Frater Garion C Beatty (chapter Prytanis) winning 2021 SEMO Man of the Year award. It was the 3rd time in 5 years that a member of TKE was nominated for that award, and the 2nd time in 5 years that TKE won! Congratulations Frater Beatty for your well deserved accomplishment!
The St Jude's Run/Walk to End Childhood Cancer was cancelled, but that didn't stop the DZ Chapter and Alumni Association from donating $6399 to our official charity. We surpassed our goal amount of $5500.
The DZ alumni golf tournament for 2021 was the first one where we donated all profits to charity. Backstoppers got $925 and the DZ Alumni Memorial Scholarship fund got the other $925 in our 50/50 donation campaign. Profits from the golf tournament also went to the DZ scholarship fund. Thanks to all who attended the tournament, which allows us to donate to these great causes.
The updated list of scholarship recipients are:
Kaleb Miller was originally one of the scholarship recipients, but his other scholarship prevented him from benefiting from the scholarship award, so he graciously asked to have his share given to another deserving frater.
The 2021-2022 scholarship award is in memory of Frater Charles Haywood, DZ190, who passed away on 10/31/2020. Below is a link to his obituary, which described the type of great person he was...
The DZ Alumni Association Memorial Scholarship, endowed through SEMO, is at approximately $48,000 as of this post. This year, we were allowed $3370 to disburse to chosen recipients. The alumni association, along with input from the chapter, chose the following four actives from the DZ chapter: Kaleb Miller, Aaron
Christianson, Alex Morelock, and Jacob DeVaughn. In addition to making at least a 3.0 GPA, each of these fraters are currently officers in the chapter. They will each receive $842.50 for the 2021-2022 school year. Congratulations to these deserving fraters.

Each year, the TKE DZ Alumni Association scholarship names the award to a Frater who has passed away. For the 2020-2021 school year, the award is named in honor of Frater Jerry Priest, DZ077. He was the owner of the Pladium and a respected member of both TKE and the Cape Girardeau community. Frater Priest’s presence transcended many generations and eras of TKE and was known and admired by many.
